TESTING CALENDAR FOR 2024/2025

Fees and Services

COST

ACT (No Writing) - $68
Includes reports for you, your high school and up to four college choices (if valid codes are provided when you register).

ACT with Writing - $93
Includes reports for you, your high school and up to four college choices (if valid codes are provided when you register). The $16.50 Writing Test fee is refundable, on written request, if you are absent on test day or switch to the ACT (No Writing) before testing begins.

Test option change - $25

ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION FEES AND SERVICES

Add to the test fee (except for the Test Center Change):

Score reports for fifth and sixth college choices add $18.50 each
Requested online before the test date; refundable on written request, if you do not test. Find out how much it costs to send your scores after you test.

• Late registration fee (U.S. or Canada only) add $38
  For registration or test date change submitted during the late period for a national test date.
  
• Standby testing add $68
  Refunded if you are denied admission to the test center on test day, or if your registration was cancelled due to no photo provided.
  
• Test date change add $44
  For different date only if absent or unable to test on the original test date or if your registration is cancelled for failure to meet ACT's test security requirements. You will be charged the basic registration fee for the new test date plus the test date change fee. If you request a test date change after the regular deadline for the new date, you will also be charged the late registration fee. Your basic registration fee for the original test date will be refunded.

  For the same test date.
  
• Viewing scores and score report online FREE
  
• Test Information Release (TIR) service add $32 if order placed before the test begins; $40 if the order is placed after the test.
  On December, April, and June national test dates at a national test center; refundable if not available.
  
• Score Verification $58 for multiple-choice test score verification
  $58 for writing test score verification.
  $116 for both multiple-choide and writing test score verification.

IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Before being admitted to test, you are required to present both:

• Acceptable photo identification
• Your printed ACT admission or standby ticket with your photo printed on it.

The ID you present, including any required signatures, must be original, not a photocopy or reproduction, and your name must be in English. School ID that is printed (e.g., from a website) or not in a hard card format is not acceptable.

If your appearance has changed and you do not have acceptable photo ID that matches your current appearance, you may use the ACT Student Identification Letter (with current photo). Questions about ID policy should be directed to ACT Student Services.

Acceptable forms of identification

Only the following forms of identification are acceptable. If it is not on this list, it is not acceptable, and you will not be admitted to test.

• Current official photo ID
  • Must be an original, current (valid) ID issued by a city/state/federal government agency or your school. Note: School ID must be in hard plastic card format. Paper or electronic formats are NOT acceptable.
  • Your first and last names must match the ticket.
  • The photo must be clearly recognizable as you.
    
  • You MUST present this ACT Student Identification Letter with Photo if you do not have a current official photo ID as described above.
  • It must be completed by a school official or notary public; neither may be a relative.
  • All items must be completed.
    
  • If you are participating in an academic talent search program and were not required to submit a photo with your registration you must present your ACT Talent Search Identification Letter. If you are participating in an academic talent search program and were required to submit a photo when you registered, you must present either a current official photo ID or an ACT Student Identification Letter with Photo.

  Unacceptable identification

  You will not be admitted if you present any forms of ID other than those listed as acceptable.

  The following are examples of unacceptable identification:

  • ACT ticket alone
  • Birth certificate
  • ChildFind ID card
  • Credit, charge, bank or check cashing cards, even with photo
  • Diploma
  • Family portrait or graduation picture, even if the name is imprinted on the photo
  • Fishing or hunting license
  • ID issued by an employer
  • ID letter that is not an official ACT identification letter
  • Learner's driving permit (if it doesn't include a photo)
  • Temporary/replacement driver's license (if it doesn't include a photo)
  • Organization membership card
  • Passport or other photo ID so old that the person presenting it cannot be identified
  • Personal recognition by anyone, including members of the test center staff, classmates, parents, counselors, and teachers
  • Photo ID of parents
  • Photo with your name embossed or printed on it by a photographer
  • Photocopies or reproductions
  • Photos issued by a business for promotional purposes (e.g., amusement parks)
  • Police report of a stolen wallet or purse
  • Printed, stamped, or photocopied signatures
  • Published photo, including yearbook or newspaper
  • Report card
  • Social Security card
  • Telephone calls to counselors, teachers, or school officials
  • Traffic ticket, even with a physical description and signature
  • Transcript, even with photo
  • Webpage with photo

  Important Information

  Approved calculators may be used during the Mathematics Test but they must be turned off and put away when you are not working on that test.

  You are not permitted to use or access the following items at any time while in the test room:

  1. Textbooks, foreign language or other dictionaries, scratch paper, notes or other aids.
  2. Highlight pens, colored pens or pencils, correction fluid/tape.
  3. Communication devices (including cell phones)
  4. Computers (including handhelds)
  5. Recording devices (including cameras, scanners, tape recorders)
  6. Media devices (including games, music video, headphones)
  7. Reading material (including books, magazines)
  8. Mechanical pencils
  9. Tobacco in any form
  10. Timers, or any other electronic devices

  “Standby Testing” – If you miss the late registration deadline but have a pressing need to test on the upcoming test day, you can try to test as a “standby” examinee. Follow the “standby” instructions found on the ACT website at www.actstudent.org or telephone ACT at 319-337-1270.

  Food, gum, candy, tobacco products, or drink (including water) is not permitted in the testing room.

  Prohibited Calculators

  The following types of calculators are prohibited:

  • Calculators with built-in or downloaded computer algebra system functionality
    Prohibited calculators in this category include:
    
    • Texas Instruments:
      • All models numbers that begin with TI-89 or TI-92
      • TI-Nspire CAS - Note: The TI-Nspire (non-CAS) is permitted.
        
      • HP Prime
      • HP 48GII
      • All model numbers that begin with HP 40G, HP 49G or HP 50G
        
      • fx-CP400 (ClassPad 400)
      • ClassPad 300
      • ClassPad 330
      • Algebra fx 2.0
      • All model numbers that begin with CFX09970G
        
      • Calculators that can hold programs or documents—remove all documents and remove all programs that have computer algebra system functionality.
      • Calculators with paper tape—Remove the tape.
      • Calculators that make noise—Turn off the sound.
      • Calculators with an infrared data port—Completely cover the infrared data port with heavy opaque material such as duct tape or electrician’s tape (includes Hewlett-Packard HP 38G series, HP 39G series, and HP 48G).
      • Calculators that have power cords—Remove all power/electrical cords.

      STANDBY TESTING

      If you miss the late registration deadline but have a pressing need to test on the upcoming test day, you can try to test as a "standby" examinee. Follow the "standby" instructions found on the ACT website or call ACT at (319) 337-1270.

      Standby requests must be submitted during a limited “Standby Request Period” before the test date. Requests cannot be accepted after the last date listed for each test date above.

      Conditions Applying to Standby Testing

      The following conditions apply to standby testing:

      • You are not guaranteed a seat or a test booklet.
        
      • Only standard time and regular print materials are available for standby testing.
        
      • Your standby request is valid only if you fully complete all required information online (including uploading a photo if required for your test date) and submit payment.
        
      • If you fail to provide a photo by the stated deadline for your requested test date, your registration will be cancelled and you will not be allowed to test. Your standby request will not transfer to any other test date. Instead, ACT will refund the fees paid for your standby request.
        
      • You must print a copy of your Standby Ticket and take it with you to the test center on test day.
        
      • Test centers admit standbys on a first-come, first-admitted basis and only if there are seats, test materials, and staff available after all registered students have been admitted for their test option. You may be turned away.
        
      • If you do not take a copy of your Standby Ticket and acceptable photo identification to the test center with you on test day, you will not be admitted to take the test.
        
      • If you are not admitted to test on the upcoming test day, your standby request will not transfer to any other test date. Instead, ACT will refund the fees paid for your standby request.
        
      • If you submit and pay for a standby request in order to change your test date or test center, your previous test date and test center assignment will be cancelled immediately, and the basic fee paid for your previous order will be refunded.

      Testing for Students with Disabilities

      If you currently receive accommodations in school due to a professionally diagnosed and documented disability, you may submit documentation to support a request for one of the following:

      • Center Testing #1: Standard Time with Accommodations
      • Center Testing #2: Extended Time (50% time extension)
      • Special Testing: Testing at school with extended time (more than 50% time extension) and alternate formats available (not at a test center).
